Mpika District lies 645Kms from Lusaka on the Great North Road (Tanzania – Zambia Highway) and has a population of 149,063. Established in 1901, Mpika is the regional hub for trade and services with the district’s main economic activity being that of small scale agriculture. Mpika is also known for tourism through the South Lunagwa National Park. Similar to Chinsali, the district lacks substantial infrastructure and rural youth are largely disadvantaged, with little access to opportunities for growth and development.
Between the 20th of December 2025 to 24th December 2025, OurPitch, in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, hosted a FAZ-E License training course for local school teachers and coaches. The training attracted a total of one hundred and ninety-one male (191) male participants and fifty-two (52) female participants. In particular, four participants travelled 574km from Nchelenge District in Luapula Province to attend the training as well as one participant from Ndola on the Copperbelt which is 680km away. Chinsali recorded the highest number of female attendees out of the twelve (12) districts that OurPitch has hosted programs in: reflecting OurPitch’s focus on gender equality in its mission to provide equal access of opportunities to rural communities.
